The genocide memorial                                                         

 

 

The memorial stands over 6ft tall and weigh over 2.5 tonnes. The stone  comes from Cumbria is pink and resembles Armenian tufa stone.

The cross,  the rondel and the commemoration plaque are in Welsh slate

footnote: It is  sad to report that on the eve of a ceremony to respect and commemorate the victims of the Holocaust - 27th January 2008 - the memorial was desecrated. The Cross was destroyed and some damage has been done to the Rondel and to the inscription. The ceremony was disturbed by Turkish demonstrators.
